Yunho looked suspicious on their way back home; Jaejoong could easily see it all on his face while glancing at him nervously. How could he not? They had almost answered all the questions together for the whole day; it was as if Jaejoong was his personal speaker or perhaps a mind-reader. How Jaejoong wish he had the ability to read his mind for he desperately wanted to know what he was thinking, and what he was going to do.
At last, Jaejoong couldn't keep the quiet atmosphere; the least he could do was to talk to him, tell him he was sorry, sorry for everything…
“Yunho?” Jaejoong started anxiously as he stopped his steps, he lowered his gazes as he turned around, not daring to look at him, “I’m sorry…”
“Huh? Why are you apologizing?” Yunho sounded puzzled but Jaejoong didn’t dare to raise his head; at this moment, he didn’t deserve to look at his soft and tender eyes.
Moments slipped and the two stood silently, and then Jaejoong heard a chuckle.
“Jae? Are you apologizing for answering those questions? Awww, don't worry! You won’t steal my glory!”
Jaejoong looked up at him in surprise. Surely he didn't mean it, but his smile was ever so bright and so honest. How could he lie with such sincere expressions? Jaejoong’s inside seemed to be melting, the guilt he felt moments ago seemed to be disappearing slowly. Yunho patted his head and gently stoked his hair with those long and thin fingers, “I don't mind if we share the success together, if it’s you, I don't mind!”
His voice so soft, and as the wind caressed his cheeks, Jaejoong could feel the gentle words sinking into his half broken heart. Suddenly his mouth felt dry as he tried to speak, nothing could come out as if his tongue were glued to the roof of his mouth; all Jaejoong could do was feeling the boy’s touches and drowning into his smile. He could feel himself falling deeper and deeper, and soon he would fly in air with large wings for an adventurous future or perhaps, he might fall hard onto the ground and die…
“Yun… I…” don't be so nice to me… Jaejoong caught the second half in his throat as the heat transferred from those fingers to his shoulders as they placed themselves there. This was like a dream Jaejoong had wished to never wake up from… how could he tell Yunho not to be nice when it was the only thing he wanted.
“It’s alright Jae…” he held his hands in his; gently pulling him along as they headed back towards the dormitory. Jaejoong stared at the back of Yunho’s head as they walked; he couldn’t help himself but wonder... would everything really be alright?

Last night passed peacefully since the little encounter between the two. It was as if they had become even closer than before; to Jaejoong, Yunho’s presence had become a great comfort in this unfamiliar place.
Getting back to their usual daily routine, Yunho and Jaejoong chatted happily as they made their way to Advanced Calculus. Perhaps Jaejoong had been too focused on the situation at hand, the little chat this morning made him realize just how little he knew about the boy he admired. The Wish Note had drawn all his attention; it seemed everything else was unnecessary. He had never known Yunho held a job outside of his classes. Now he finally understood the hours when Yunho was gone to nowhere, leaving him alone in the room, wandering away. Perhaps he had underestimated the boy since they were both freshmen. He had never thought Yunho could be a part of such prestige research lab, experimenting things he had never laid hands of. Yunho sounded so enthusiastic about his lab work as if it was merely his interest instead of his formal job.
Jaejoong watched as another smile spread on his face and imagined what it would be like to work there, beside him. If he had not possessed anything with such a great and dangerous power, he would never dare dreaming such things. But now? He was no longer sure of his mind. How pity us human should suffer the filthiest feeling, greediness was not what he wanted, not instead of love…
As his thoughts traveled further, Jaejoong quickly reminded himself how everything had been for the past two weeks. How everything turned disastrous and how flustered he was. He had been lucky enough to just be here, studying in the same school, sleeping in the same room with him. If he tried to temper another harmony, he might put himself in a deeper debt. Jaejoong had never hated being ordinary; but at this moment he wished he was extraordinary for their lives would have never crossed each others the other way.
Stepping into their classroom, Jaejoong was reminded another headache matter he had been thinking last night before he fell asleep. His worries of yesterday’s events came back as professor Kuran[1] walked into class while holding a stack of paper in his hands. Everything was back as Jaejoong’s heart increased rapidly…

The students could sense an unwelcoming scent from professor Kuran as he took his place in the center front; it was not his usual self. All the students stopped their private conversations and focused their gazes on their teacher, the atmosphere tightened immediately.
“Before I start, I’d like to talk about a rather unfortunate event that took place in my class yesterday morning…” professor Kuran crossed his arms and announced seriously.
No response was heard, the classroom had become so quiet that the faintly breathing sounds could be heard.
“Let me explain.” he turned back to his front desk and took the first two sheets from the stack of paper into his hand, and turned around, facing the class once again, “I am very disappointed, very very disappointed…” he shook his head and continued, “If you remember what I said during our first class, I will do just that. Expose the wrong doings, punish them and make sure a heavy price is paid.”
The students stared at each other, searching for answers but in vain, they had no clue as to what professor was referring to. Jaejoong turned to look at Yunho but met his confused gaze in mid way. He shrugged his shoulder and looked straight again.
“This was the first time I had considered to cover it up since they were my two top students… I had even went there, how shameful. Kim Jaejoong, Jung Yunho, please explain this to me and the whole class. I need a reasonable answer to why they were identical!” The two sheets of paper were thrown onto Jaejoong’s desk, and as they landed, he could make out their contents. To his horror, they were the quizzes they had taken in yesterday’s class. The red checks and circles on them were identical, almost looking like one…
Quickly Jaejoong looked up, but as he saw the anger in professor Kuran’s eyes, his heart quivered. He couldn’t look; he couldn’t stare into those eyes…
“Even the semicolons, the “and’s”, the “the’s” are the same, please explain to me, what miracle had happened?” Jaejoong had never seen professor Kuran like this, he was always nice and forgiving, no matter what mistakes they made…
This was a huge one, wasn’t it?
Yes, a miracle has happened but Jaejoong was not going to tell him the truth. He couldn’t or else how would the class and Yunho look at him? Some kind of person who was out of his mind? He didn’t know which one was worse, being accused of cheating or being thought as a mad person.
“What are you talking about professor, Jaejoong and I didn’t cheat off of each other, there must be some terrible misunderstandings, I couldn’t see this happening in a mill…” Yunho’s voice got smaller as he carefully examined the papers, and then, a loud gasping sound escaped his thin lips as he quickly turned to face Jaejoong, disbelief in his eyes. Jaejoong could identify his shock, his slight anger and perhaps a little sadness in those eyes, “what…?” he didn’t continue but merely lowered the parchments onto his desk and sank lower.
Was he feeling betrayed? They had just become closer last night and now? Jaejoong could feel his eyes getting sore; deeply he inhaled trying to control his emotions. He had surely destroyed everything… those papers were identical, Jaejoong knew because he had wished it himself.
“I’m disappointed, extremely disappointed! Yunho, you have a bright future, but now it’s all gone! No one will ever take a student with record against him, this will stay with you forever… it’s a punishment of a life time!” professor sighed and looked regretful; Yunho was like his son from the way he had cared for him. The fact that he had thought of covering this event meant more than anything.
Yunho sat in his seat, head down and not a word escaped.
Jaejoong looked at his feature painfully and decided on one thing, it was now or never.
“Professor?” there was only one thing he could do, “I…it was me who cheated off of Yunho, he didn’t help me nor did he noticed anything. This… this had nothing to do with him… please, please only punish me, not him! Professor, he had nothing to do with this!!” Jaejoong begged as his eyes met those of professor’s, but he only shook his head.
“It is too late. Even if I believe what you’ve claimed to be the truth, cheating can never only involve one person. The moment you have attempted it, you should think of the consequences, not only to yourself but to him also.” He pointed at Yunho, who was still sitting in his seat silently.
“Sometimes, it’s not the punishment but the guilt that will last forever. You must always remember this day, when your actions had harmed another innocent being, who was on his way to success. It was you who took them all away and now he would suffer a much rougher path.”
Jaejoong visions became blurry as each word sank in his mind. His guilt was building up higher and higher, soon he would be buried with it… alive or perhaps dead…
“Tears won’t change anything. Jaejoong ahh, the same goes to apologies. Some things are just not reversible!”
Was he crying? Jaejoong had realized his tears sliding down his cheeks. He could no longer concentrate on his surroundings as he struggled to breathe. This was a dream, I didn’t cheat, it was not real… I hadn’t…
“Class dismissed…”
Jaejoong didn’t know how he walked out of his class. Wandering in the hallway be himself, he had even left his book bag in the previous class…
He was no longer walking with him…
Where was he…?
As he laid against the wall for support, he could hear a faint voice…
I forgive you but… I don’t want to see you ever again…
And then he felt darkness welcoming him… he would soon forget everything… all the pain would soon disappear…
